Pause when you see these warning signs
- A guaranteed job or interview in exchange for a registration, security or processing payment to a personal account.
- Requests for an OTP, password, remote-access app, bank login or QR-code payment to receive money.
- A recruiter who cannot be verified through the company's independently obtained contact details.
- Pressure to pay immediately, vague site details, copied company identities or unusually high salaries with no credible interview.
- Equipment listings requesting a large advance before identity, availability and contract checks.
Verify before you commit
- Check the company, recruiter, role and site through independent sources, not only the number in the message.
- Ask for written job or internship terms.
- Inspect rental equipment and confirm ownership, insurance and transport arrangements.
- Share only necessary documents after verifying who is requesting them.
- Treat badges and AI matches as signals, not guarantees.
- Never send private CVs on behalf of someone else without permission.
If you have paid or shared sensitive details
Contact your bank or payment provider immediately. In India, call the financial cyber-fraud helpline 1930 and report at cybercrime.gov.in.
Preserve transaction references, messages and screenshots. Change compromised passwords and do not continue communicating or paying to recover earlier money.
For immediate physical danger, call 112.
DPDP and privacy reminder
Do not share unnecessary personal data. If you report a suspected fraud, include only relevant information and redact sensitive documents where possible.
Project Crew reports
